Book Review: Cold Justice by Katherine Howell

Cold Justice is a detective/crime novel set in an Australian city that features two paramedics as primary characters. Their call responses are used to build the relationship and reveal the conflict that exists between them.

Cold Just is the second book I have read by former Australian paramedic Katherine Howell. I previously read Frantic which was excellent.

Cold Justice features a case that is nearly 20 years old. The plot weaves through the lives of two teenage friends that later are re-united as paramedics. The main character, Detective Marconi, relentlessly works to discover the truth using emerging clues from the connected characters.

The writing and story telling in Cold Justice are strong. Any fan of suspense/crime/detective novels will enjoy this book. It also reveals some of the challenges of being a paramedic – in any culture. Readers that EMS professionals will appreciate the accuracy of the medicine and the generally positive way EMS portrayed.
