On the topic of good books for EMS personnel to check out, I’d like to recommend A Widow’s Awakening by Maryanne Pope. Pope’s husband, Calgary Police Service Const. John Petropoulos, died in the line of duty. The book, a work of creative non-fiction, chronicles what she went through and is a great read in terms of providing insight on the impact of a first responder death on loved ones.
